Ramesh was Chief Guest and Dr. Ajay Mathur, Director-General
Bureau of Energy Efficiency was Guest of Honour at the launch
of the India Chapter of Climate Savers Computing Initiative
(CSCI), a global programme that aims to promote technologies
and practices for more efficient everyday computing for a
greener earth. Nine leading companies and industry bodies
including CII, DELL, HP, Intel, MAIT, Nasscom, TERI and WWF
came together in announcing the India programmes that aim
to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 4 million tons over
the next three years - an amount equal to planting about 4800
sq.k.m of trees - through enabling technologies and practices
for smarter everyday computing. Seen at the launch are (L-R),
Mr. Rahul Bedi of Intel, Founder-Chairman CSCI India; Dr Ajay
Mathur; Minister Jairam Ramesh; Dr. Pat Gelsinger special
invitee representing CSCI global; and Mr Ravi Singh of WWF,
Co-Chairman CSCI India.

The Climate Savers Computing Initiative (CSCI) launched its
India Chapter with the coming together of nine leading companies
and industry bodies in a broad effort organised to drive energy
efficient computing. The programme aims to reduce greenhouse
gas emissions by 4 million tons over the next three years
- an amount equal to planting about 4800 sq.k.m of trees -
through enabling technologies and practices for smarter everyday
